Race to Turkey Trot 2026: Nov. 8 Deadline for Regular Registration
Registration is now open for one of Kearney’s favorite Thanksgiving traditions!
The 15th Annual KSD Education Foundation Turkey Trot will step off at 8:30 a.m. Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 26, at Kearney High School Stadium. Families, students, alumni and community members are invited to start the holiday together with a 4-mile or 1-mile walk/run, plus a free Tot Trot for the youngest Bulldogs. A virtual option will also be available Nov. 24-29 for those who want to participate wherever Thanksgiving takes them.

Regular registration will be $35 through Nov. 8. Participants can also register later, although race shirts are not included with late registration.
Whether you plan to race, walk with family and friends or simply enjoy being part of a great Kearney tradition, the Turkey Trot is a wonderful way to begin Thanksgiving while supporting our Bulldogs.

Great Schools = Great Community: Share Your Feedback by Sunday, Nov. 8
Kearney School District is continuing to gather community feedback through our Great Schools = Great Community initiative, which focuses on long-term financial stability and long-range facility planning.
The latest edition of Bulldog News, recently mailed to district residents, includes an in-depth look at these important issues. We encourage families, staff and community members to explore that information, review the videos, resources, financial tools and frequently asked questions available on our website, and share their perspectives.
Our online surveys will remain open through Sunday, Nov. 8. No final decisions have been made, and your feedback is an important part of helping district leaders and the Board of Education understand community priorities before determining next steps.
Great schools and a great community are built together. Thank you for being part of the conversation!

KHS Students Make a Difference During Day of Service
Kearney High School students stepped outside their usual classrooms on Tuesday, Nov. 3, to make a difference in their community during the school's annual Day of Service!
Working alongside teachers and community partners, our Bulldogs participated in a wide variety of service projects designed to meet real needs, strengthen community connections and demonstrate the importance of giving back.
Students rolled up their sleeves to clean and organize community spaces, assist local food pantries, help care for gardens and outdoor areas, and support organizations serving families throughout the area. Others spent time with senior citizens, assembled care packages for children and first responders, and put their creativity and technical skills to work making games and other items for local organizations.
The projects supported an impressive range of community partners, including the Kearney Food Pantry, Kearney Senior Center, Kearney Family Foundation, Children's Mercy, local first responders, area senior living communities and several KSD elementary schools. Some students worked behind the scenes preparing supplies and organizing donations. Others had opportunities to connect directly with the people they were serving, sharing conversations, laughter and even a little line dancing!
The Day of Service is about much more than completing projects. It's an opportunity for students to experience firsthand how their time, talents and willingness to help can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. We're incredibly proud of our KHS students for embracing that opportunity and demonstrating what it means to be part of a caring community.
Special thanks to the KHS teachers and staff who organized and supervised these projects, particularly Dr. Brad Miller, Kassidy Robertson, Erica Hart and Jennifer West, and to the many community organizations, businesses and volunteers who welcomed our students and helped make the day possible.
