Dogwood Families,
I am looking forward to the 2020-2021 school year with great excitement as I begin my role as your new principal. The first months will allow me to learn about the history, culture and programs at Dogwood Elementary. It will also give me opportunities to begin developing personal and professional relationships with many of you. I know there is much for me to learn and this time of changing leadership provides a natural opportunity to pause and reflect on the strengths, challenges and goals of our learning community and set some very specific goals for the coming year.
The top priority will be keeping students, staff and families safe in the school building. While using county guidelines, KSD leadership members have been working to create a detailed entry plan for the return to school. The plan was released July 17th with an update released on July 27th; please make sure you have taken the time to read the detailed document on the plans for safety in our schools. As well as make your commitment to in-person learning or choosing virtual with KSD Connect.
Here are some highlights:
I also wanted to share with you some building highlights and improvements.
To say that I feel Dogwood Elementary is a special place is an understatement; indeed, Dogwood Elementary School is very much like home. This feeling is one that is due entirely to the people who fill this building every day—from its parents to its teachers, from its students to its staff. It is with great joy that I now have the privilege to be a part of this campus and serve as principal. Together, as a team, we will provide the best possible learning environment for our Dogwood students.
We are excited to begin a new school year and look forward to the memories we all are sure to make together!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Laura Gonzalez
