KHS Band & Choir Garner Top Marks at State Festivals

The Kearney High School band had 11 events qualify for and participate in the MSHSAA State Solo/Ensemble Festival on Friday, April 29 at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The band students earned two Gold, five Silver and four Bronze medals. The band is directed by Chris Heil, Jamie Heil and Heidi Dodd.
“It was great to have these band activities back in person this year,” Mr. Heil said. ” Our students learned a lot and represented Kearney well!”

KHS choir students also had an outstanding day at this state festival, according to Director Dustin McKinney.
“I am pleased to announce that every performing event received a Gold rating, the highest rating one can receive at the state contest!” Mr. McKinney said.
