Local business leaders utilize corporate program to boost education
Kearney, Mo., April 21, 2022: Two local insurance agents are stepping up to help ensure a great future for Kearney School District students.
Stella Spiking and Tracy Tucker combined forces to leverage a State Farm Insurance corporate matching grant program that generated a total of $7,000 in donations to benefit Kearney schools. They recently visited the KSD central office to present these donations to KSD Education Foundation Board Chair Julia Kuhn.
“We are so grateful for this generous gift from Stella, Tracy and State Farm,” Ms. Kuhn said. “They took the initiative to find and use this corporate matching grant program. This is a great example of the support we get from our local business community. They are true partners in education!”
Ms. Spiking and Ms. Tucker each have their own insurance agencies in Kearney that represent State Farm. They each made separate individual donations of $250 and $1,500 using a community grant program administered by the insurance provider’s charitable foundation. Their contributions were matched by the foundation, which boosted the donations to $1,000 for the KSDEF and $6,000 for KSD.
“The State Farm Companies Foundation encourages our associates to be good neighbors by giving back to the communities where we live and work as well as supporting the education and training of future generations,” Spiking said. “Tracy and I are both local small business owners who believe in the importance and impact of investing in our community.
The foundation’s mission is to bring together area business and community leaders who value education to guide and direct resources outside the district budget, thereby providing opportunities to enrich the educational experience for KSD students and staff. KSDEF funds are used to foster cutting-edge classroom tools and techniques with Teacher Innovation Grants, provide college scholarships, and fulfill special requests.
