Kirsten Timchak has been named the 2019-2020 Assistant Principal for Dogwood and Southview Elementary schools. Timchak is currently a second grade teacher at Dogwood Elementary and has been an active leader in the district for the past 14 years.

Timchak’s new role as assistant principal is a new position in the district. Southview and Dogwood Elementary schools have the highest enrollment numbers, and the district has seen an increasing need for additional administrative support in these buildings. Timchak will be dedicated to supporting each building evenly.

Timchak began her career in education in 1996 as an Early Education Teacher and Assistant Director in Siloam Springs, AR. From 1998-2002, she transitioned to teaching first and second grade. In 2002, Timchak started her career with the Kearney School District in Special Education at Hawthorne Elementary. In 2003, Timchak accepted a position as a fifth grade teacher in the district and transitioned to teaching second grade when Dogwood Elementary opened in 2005.

Throughout her career in Kearney, Timchak has been an outstanding leader in many ways. In 2008, she earned the role of lead teacher for Dogwood Elementary. In this position she went through extensive training in leadership and instructional professional development and provided professional development to staff across the district. She remained in that role until 2013 when the role shifted to the title of grade level team leader. She has spent more than 10 years as a grade level team leader and Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO) board member. In 2015, Timchak accepted the position as a summer school administrator intern, and for the past year she has been the lead elementary summer school administrator. Timchak has been instrumental in helping to establish an outstanding summer school program for district.

I am grateful for the opportunities the district has given me in preparing for this next step in my career,” Timchak stated. “I am looking forward to supporting our students, staff and parents at each of the buildings.

Timchak attended John Brown University where she earned a Bachelor of Elementary Education degree. She also holds a Master of Administration degree from William Woods University. In 2015, she was honored at the Northland Chamber Excellence in Education Banquet for Excellence in Classroom Teaching.

She and her husband John have 2 children, John and Logan.

Timchak will start her new role at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year.
